1) Why is Pastor Jim retiring?

Pastor Jim is stepping into medical retirement due to ongoing health challenges. This decision has been

made with prayer, medical guidance, and the support of church leadership.

2) When is the transition happening?

The official leadership handoff is planned for Sunday, May 3, 2026.

3) Who will be the next Lead Pastor?

Pastor Ryan Parsons will become the next Lead Pastor of New Life. He has served on staff for over 19

years and is already recognized as one of our pastors.

4) How was this decision made?

This transition has been shaped through prayer, unity between Pastor Jim and our Transition Team

and a desire for a healthy and stable future for the whole church.

5) Will Pastor Jim still attend New Life?

Yes. Pastor Jim plans to remain part of the New Life church family. To support a healthy transition,

there will also be clear boundaries that protect and empower Pastor Ryan’s leadership as Lead Pastor.

6) What will change—and what will not change?

What will not change:

  • Our commitment to Jesus, the gospel, and Scripture

  • Our mission and heart for discipleship

  • Our love for the next generation and young families

What will change:

  • Pastor Jim will no longer carry the primary leadership load

  • Pastor Ryan will increasingly lead the church as Lead Pastor

  • Our Transition Team will strengthen shared leadership and shepherding

7) How can I support Pastor Jim?

  • Celebrate his legacy with gratitude

  • Support a healthy transition by speaking with unity and honor

8) How can I support Pastor Ryan as Lead Pastor?

9) What if I feel sad or uncertain about the change?

That’s normal. A founding pastor transition can feel like family change. We will provide opportunities

to listen, ask questions, and walk through this together with care.

10) Will there be opportunities to ask questions?

Yes. We will host listening/Q&A gatherings shortly after the announcement to hear from you, answer

questions, and move forward with clarity and unity.

11) How can I help protect unity at New Life?
